All the while, Geth will attack you from unreachable balconies on the far side of the room.
You need to examine the terminal for about five consecutive seconds without being shot at or disturbed, which is easier said than done. Turning them on involves doing more than just examining a computer terminal, however. You have to fight your way to each power coupling and turn them on.
There are two power couplings in this room, one on either side. If you're smart here, you should be able to finish this entire sequence with three minutes (or perhaps even more) to spare. It's easy to get bogged down in the next area, but you need to ensure that you don't. Examine one of them to open the door at the top end of the room, and examine the other one for more text information about what's going on here. On the right side of the room are two computer terminals. There is some Iridium in a well-hidden crate on the left side of the room, as well as a medical kit. Fell them quickly, and then explore the room, but do so rapidly. There will be a couple of rogue Geth in here to attack, but only two or three of them. Once you've read the datapad, hack open the nearby door, and push into the adjacent room. With the ship overrun, the captain has reported that his only recourse seems to be to cut the engines, letting the ship's orbit around the planet below decay (hence the timer). It appears that this ship was unexpectedly assaulted by the Geth when it was going through some routine exercises. Read the datapad on the ground next to the corpse - this won't cut into your time, and it will flesh out what's going on here a little bit. As soon as you gain control, push forward towards the locked door ahead.
